RCRA Updates Overview
The 2016 Hazardous Waste Generator Improvement Rule
The Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule was published in the Federal Register on November 28, 2016. The objectives of this new rule is to:
- Increase flexibility for generators of hazardous waste
- Improve environmental protection
- Improve generator compliance
- Reorganize hazardous waste generator regulations
- Correct technical errors
This rule will take effect on May 30, 2017 for generators located in Iowa, Alaska, US territories and tribal lands. Authorized states will be required to adopt the more stringent provisions by July 1, 2018 (2019 if state law change is needed). Authorized states may choose to not adopt the less stringent provisions or those provisions that are considered equally stringent to existing rules.
The purpose of this course is to introduce you to the key provisions of this rule change so that when your state adopts these rules (either all or in part), you are ready for compliance!
